Marten,

It would be useful to get some stack traces from you to provide more
information about both errors ...

FWIW, on my LTS 18.04 system I just created a 3.6.5 stone with no errors ...

As a general rule, when you are working with a new version of GemStone, you
should make sure that the git repositories are up-to-date using:

If you use this command, it isn't necessary to remove the git projects as
they will be updated in place.
I did run updateGsDevKit before doing my createStone and it ran fine, so I
have reason to believe that if you do the same that things will load
correctly for you ....

The -g flag for createStone, simply copies the extent0.seaside.dbf from
$GEMSTONE/bin and starts the stone ... so no code is loaded from the
GsDevKit git projects, so it is not surprising that this would work without
error ...

Ok, I removed all already downloaded repositories withion GsDevKit_home

I'm not sure what commands you executed to "create a database", but a
little more detail is required for me to attempt to help you further ...
please include the full output of the command that you ran including any
stacks that were displayed.
