[Glass] Safe way to interrupt/stop a GC?

Hello,

Due to an hardware migration mistake on our side, our Garbage collection
suddenly takes too long.  The VM got moved from an SSD to a RAID 10 with
*fastcache* on top of it.  But that ends up not being a good choice.

What is the safest way to interrupt a GC simply started with:
SystemRepository markForCollection.

Can I just kill the process?  That's under the old GLASS appliance running
2.4.  The GC has been running for 8h now.
